BAMnet is a technology company headquartered in the Northeastern United States -- New Jersey.
The Company's management includes David L Sobin, CEO, who led the team at Bell Labs inventing the first DSL product in the early 1980's and deployed it worldwide (originally called CO-LAN). In addition to Mr Sobin, management includes Michael J Meighan, Founder and President, who launched the nation's first dial-up "Internet by the minute" service using telecom CIC codes (10-10-2000 was the dialup number).
The original premise of BAMnet, during the mid-1990s, was to provide more affordable Internet access solutions to remote and underprivileged regions of the United States. These were locations where residents had been paying both monthly Internet access fees and long distance telephone toll costs to get connected to a modem. BAMnet's solution cut their monthly access fee to $0 (zero), and cut their long distance toll rate to 6 cents per minute. A significant cost savings for those who had discovered BAMnet.
Today, BAMnet continues to work in Internet access related technologies. The core focus of the company is in providing affordable wireless data networks in towns across the United States.
